Sustainable development
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. "
ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRYAffirm our uniqueness and our sincerity.
Château Penin, in order to ensure its sustainability, is developing and building long term human and commercial relationships. Based on trust and respect, with each of its employees, customers, suppliers and collaborators.
Château Penin needs everyone to move forward, develop, adapt and ensure its sustainability.
No success without respect for human values.
No success without respecting the very land and that we are going to pass on in our turn.
No success without sharing.
The most important person to us is the customer.
Customers satisfaction will always be our priority.
Château Penin needs everyone's skills and investment to achieve its goals.
Performance is the result of the efforts made by everyone.
None of us know better what we all know together.
Knowing how to be, is just as important and knowing how to do.
Our reputation is built on our actions.
For more than 10 years, we have opted for lighter bottles.
The weight has been reduced from 600g to 500g, which significantly reduces our carbon footprint.
We use French oak barrels from sustainably managed forests for more than 85% of our needs.
On the one hand for the quality of the oak but also for the proximity of the supply chain and therefore its low carbon footprint.
We ONLY use products NOT classified as CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic).
We allocate an annual budget of 8% of turnover for the replacement or improvement of equipment (90% is French made) and the improvement of working conditions.
Part of our equipment is purchased as part of a CUMA (Cooperative for the use of agricultural equipment), for the benefits of pooling resources with other local winegrowers. As part of our eco-citizen commitment, we voluntarily adhere to ADELPHE (collective system for sorting and recycling all types of wine packaging)
Eco-regional raw materials:
The cardboard we use is bio-based, biodegradable, recyclable and recycled, with a low carbon footprint.
The wooden boxes come from sustainably managed forests.
The water-based inks are suitable for food contact.
The pallets are reusable.
Our corks are made from recomposed natural cork, the bio-based binder is exclusively vegetable and comes from cork sustainable oak forests.
These corks are the guarantee of sensory neutrality and ensure the permeability necessary for the development of our wines while preserving them from deviant tastes (taste of corked wines).
The group has placed the protection of its employees at the heart of its values, and deploys a proactive approach to protecting the environment.
They are very active in terms of CSR (corporate social responsibility)
Since 1982 many trainees have come to Château Penin..
We welcome them in several areas, work in the vineyard, the cellar and winemaking, oenology and wine trade. (du niveau bac à bac +5).
At the end of their training course, some trainees are hired at the vineyard.
We keep in touch with a large majority. About a third have gone on to create their own companies.
Since 2016, we even have had the sons of former trainees who have been welcomed.
